‘Egypt Station’ is McCartney’s eerste nieuwe album sinds ‘New’ uit 2013 bevat 14 nieuwe songs en werd opgenomen in Los Angeles, Londen en Sussex onder productionele leiding van Greg Kurstin (Adele, Foo Fighters, Beck).

Het album is, zoals de titel al doet vermoeden, een heuse muzikale reis waarbij McCartney de luisteraar tussen de instrumentale opener en sluiter ‘Station I’ en ‘Station II’ meeneemt naar steeds weer een andere bestemming, van een akoestische meditatie in ‘Happy With You’, het tijdloze ‘People Want Peace’ dat op zo op ieder eerder verschenen McCartney album zou passen tot het 7 minuten durende afsluitende epos ‘Despite Repeated Warnings’. Het totaal klinkt als een muzikale trip door de afgelopen decennia maar zonder het heden uit het oog te verliezen, en altijd met Paul’s herkenbare melodieën en teksten als leidraad.

De aankondiging van ‘Egypt Station’ werd voorafgegaan door een optreden van Paul in Carpool Karaoke in de populaire show van James Corden. Deze werd inmiddels ruim 30 miljoen keer bekeken.

‘Egypt Station’ is er als CD en dubbel LP. De eerste oplage van het vinyl is een deluxe limited edition met harmonica hoes. "
