Coldplay is terug met hun langverwachte nieuwe album, ‘Everyday Life’.  Na zeven succesvolle studio albums, waarvan ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ in 2015 het laatste was, komt de UK band nu met een achtste studio album. ‘Everyday Life’ telt 16 nummers, onderverdeeld in twee delen van 8 nummers, ‘Sunrise’ en ‘Sunset’. De hoes van het album dateert uit 1919 en is een foto van een band van de overgrootvader van bandmember Jonny Buckland. Het album is, zoals de titel doet vermoeden, een reactie op het hedendaagse leven en raakt actuele thema’s zoals oorlog, de vluchtelingencrisis, de opkomst van rechts nationalisme, sexisme, racisme, politie geweld, corruptie en ‘gun control’ aan.

Een bijzonder geslaagd eerbetoon aan een toch wel öndergewaardeerde grootheid uit het muziekverleden. 4LP's met prachtige klanken van muzikale en andere vrienden van George. Deze mensen geven George de eer die hij verdient. Als sologitarist van The Beatles kreeg hij zelden de ruimte om zijn muzikale talenten te tonen. Toegegeven dat Lennon & McCartney over een uitzonderlijk talent beschikten om songs de top 40 in te schrijven, maar gaandeweg het traject dat The Beatles aflegden, ontplooide George zich meer en meer. Hetgeen resulteerde in The Beatles nummers "Something, Here Comes The Sun en While My Guitar Gently Weeps" en in een eerste solo LP "All Things Must Pass", bestaande uit 3 vinyl schijven. Bijgestaan door muzikale grootheden als Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann (ook al ondergewaardeerd als bassist), Jeff Lynne en anderen zoals bv. Ringo Starr, zijn oude maat, kreeg George uiteindelijk de waardering bij het grote publiek. Deze vrienden eren hem met het Concert For George ontegenzeglijk. Een concert om je vingers bij af te likken. Shivers up and down my spine.
Bovendien is nu voor het eerst de complete geluidsband te horen, met het nummer "Horse To The Water", gezongen door Sam Brown. Dit nummer was om eigendomsrechten niet te horen op de reeds eerder uitgebrachte cd-versie van het concert

Naast dat ze de grootste band ter wereld zijn, zijn The Rolling Stones ook de grootste supporters van de blues dus wie anders te vragen om samen met BMG en Universal een album samen te stellen met de muziek die ze inspireerde gedurende hun carrière?

Confessin’ The Blues brengt de beste blues muzikanten ooit samen en geeft een prachtig overzicht van het genre. De songs op de verschillende releases zijn door de The Rolling Stones zelf uitgezocht.
